Frequently asked questions. Short answers, no fine print.

How much is it?

Sunset Tour R$ 290 per person (children 3–12: R$ 250). Morning Tour R$ 250 (children R$ 200). Whale Expedition R$ 450 (children R$ 400). Babies 0–2 are free. Private sailboat: R$ 1,500 + R$ 100 per person (3 hours) or R$ 1,950 + R$ 150 per person (5 hours). Prices valid until April 2027.

How does payment work?

You pay a 10% deposit when you book — by card, PIX or PayPal — and your place is confirmed. The remaining 90% is paid on board at the end of the trip: credit or debit card, cash or PIX. The deposit applies to everything, including barbecue and DJ.

What if it rains?

There are two cases. If it rains but sailing is safe, the tour goes ahead — and the choice is yours: board, rebook or cancel, with no penalty. If the sea is unsafe, DDRio cancels the departure and you choose between rebooking or a full refund. The crew chief makes that call on the day.

Can I cancel?

With 24 hours' notice or more, we refund the deposit. With less than 24 hours, or a no-show, the deposit isn't refunded — but you can rebook for R$ 30 per person. Bookings made via GetYourGuide, Viator or Civitatis follow the policy accepted on that platform.

How many people are on the boat?

On shared tours, up to 12 guests per sailboat — the exact number depends on the boat assigned that day. Private trips take 2 to 15. Groups of 16 to 40 sail on a schooner or trawler.

What's included?

Unlimited drinks — sparkling wine, caipirinha, caipivodka, beer, soft drinks, juice and water (coffee on the Morning and Whale trips) — and paired snacks: cold-cut skewers with cherry tomato, cheese, cucumber and olives, toasts, peanuts and seasonal fruit. Life jackets, onboard toilet and a crew speaking Portuguese, English and Spanish.

Can children and babies come?

Yes, there is no minimum age. Babies 0–2 are free but count towards capacity. Children 3–12 have their own price on shared tours; on private trips they pay full price. Children's life jackets are on board. On the Whale Expedition, being open sea, we don't recommend it for under-2s.

Where do we board?

Marina da Glória, Av. Infante Dom Henrique, s/n, Glória, Rio de Janeiro — Pier A0 gate. Arrive 10 minutes early and look for the DDRio team in white shirts at the guardhouse.

Is there a toilet on board?

Yes, every boat has a toilet.

Is the swim stop guaranteed?

No. The swim stop at Adão e Eva beach lasts about twenty minutes and happens when the sea allows — which is nearly always. The sea decides, and so does the crew.

Will I get seasick?

On the bay, unlikely: it's sheltered-water sailing, designed for comfort. The Whale Expedition is open sea — if you get seasick easily, take medication beforehand.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, small pets are welcome. A life jacket is recommended, not required — DDRio doesn't supply one. The pet's behaviour and safety are the owner's responsibility.

What if I have reduced mobility?

Wheelchairs can't board the sailboat — the operation isn't suitable for anyone unable to walk. Reduced mobility is welcome: the marina has golf carts to the pier and the crew helps you aboard. Tell us in advance on WhatsApp.

I have a food allergy.

Let the team know before the trip, on WhatsApp. Each case is assessed individually. We can't guarantee allergen-free food or separate preparation.

What should I bring?

Swimwear underneath, flip-flops, sunglasses, sunscreen, a towel and a cap with a cord — the wind takes the rest.
